I haven't touched my rock since the tank has been up, the upgrade is now about 3 years.

id say the first two months of having the tank i initially moved the scape around atleast 12 times. ive now been using the same scape for the last 3 months and it seems to work well for the fish, flow, and makes coral placement easy so i have left it alone. i dont buy frags that are attached to rocks so i have no need to really 'make' room in the scape for another rock.

if i start to have a nitrate issue i will wind up rescaping to find it if its not in the sump... thats about the only thing that will make me mess with the rock moving forward. not to mention the near catastrophes incurred from moving the scape around so much. i almost broke the front glass one day because of a avalanche that luckily i somehow caught in time, but a 6lb rock went flying toward the front glass. i have a layer of eggcrate under the rocks beneath the sand so it keeps them in place pretty darn well especially in instances where the rock tumbles down it'll cushion the blow instead of hitting the glass
