Mine seems to completely deflate down to nothing every 3 or 4 days for a few hours. This usually occurs in the evening. My tomato clown doesn't look happy when it does this. It still tries to root around in the deflated tentacles.

When it is inflated it is about 5 inches across. Here is a pic with it inflated. This is the anemone as soon as it reopened after feeding. It still has a tentacle in its mouth. Every 3 days I feed it a small piece of thawed frozen formula one. Must've been tentacle lickin' good.

normal! expelling the water and "crap" they have in them is normal! think of it as it's refilling, now if it deflates then detaches and then pukes out it's gut, well, then you got a problem!

Mine does this once or twice a day. My clown gets rather antsy and will stand guard over it until it inflates again.

Depends alot on other variable such as light, water parameters, defication, something else bothering it as well.

true but CR this doesn't seem excessive every 3 or 4 days for a few hours?

Mine deflates almost daily. It happens at nearly the same time 30min to an hour before the actinics come back on. Mine usually only lasts 30 min to an hour, yours is a bit longer, but I wouldn't be worried.

Deflating behavior is typical of expelling wastes. Because you feed your anemone quite often (IMO) than it has quite a bit of waste to expel. That is probably a digestive cycle of the anemone - or even one that it is used to. As mentioned earlier, it's normal. Keep track of this behavior, you obviously seem to think it's out of the normal patterns, so it very well might be.

Thanks for the feedback. Mine has always done this so I figured it was normal. I just wanted to hear how mine compares to others. It's pretty amazing how much it can shrink.
