I have been using a Hydrometer for the last 1 1/2 years and knew it could be off a little but found out how much today.

I noticed my Sg had went up over the last few months (not sure how) from 1.023 to 1.025 using my Hydrometer (Redsea) but did not think much of it since it seemed to be in the range I wanted.

I went to my LFS today and decided to pick up a Refractometer. Well, it turns out my Sg is at 1.030 not 1.025. I verified it with some premade water from my LFS, which tested at 1.022.

    Learned my lesson.

How quickly should I lower my Sg? I do not want to shock or kill everything in my tank.

1.030 is not a massive problem and as it got there over time, no rapid change is required IMO
as you now have better measuring device, you can gradually lower it weekly when you do water changes

what % water changes do you do and how often
if we knew this , we could then suggest what SG your batches of water could be over next few weeks to bring it down gradually

This is sound advice as you are not having any problems. Whatever the amount of water in the change, make up the new water to .021. I have found this to work well.

I know this will bring up other comments but I do not do water changes, have not for over 6 months now. I know everyone has their own opinion but I am trying this out to see how it works for me. If it turns out bad I will probably resume WC's then.

I will to lower my Sg but otherwise, I am having success without them. I do add additives to make up for depleted items. My skimmer is pulling junk out regularly. I top off with RO/DI water, about 2.0 gallons a day.

My corals and fish appear to be doing fine, actually better than before when I did regular WC.

My parameter as of 12/9 are:

    Sg - 1.025 (now I know 1.030)
    ph - 8.2
    Alk - 11
    No3 - 25
    Po - 0.0
    Ca - 475
    Mg - 1275

I know No3 at 25 is a little high but it does not concern me too much right now.

Just take out a cup or two when your topping off the tank. That should slowly lower it back down. If you use an ato you can just take out some water each day and let the ATO fill it back up.
