i currently have a 60 cube with 2 clownfish, fire fish, chromes, yellow tang, clown tang and corals.

i will be going back to my hometown for a month on winter break, what should i do? i know an option is to let a friend stop by and feed my fish, but I'm trying to do this without having to give out my key.

as of right now I'm feeding them often to fatten them up. should i lower my photoperiod and lower my temp to slow down metabolism? and hope they'll live on the pods in my tank. ill throw in a large portion of chaeto for my tangs. what should i do to prepare my fish for a long period of my not being around

Pre-preparation is key, do you have an ATO (Automatic Top-Off)? Do you have a controller?

A month is a long time I would make sure to consider:

    - have a large supply of RO/DI water for top-off
    - have someone feed at least once every two days
    - maybe have at least a 10-20g mix of SW for a water change
    - need to empty the skimmer cup every 5 days or so

I have an ATO with a 10g reservoir and an Apex Jr. controller which helps me feel comfortable if I am away for more than a week. You can get by without a water change for a few weeks but I think you'd want to do one before you hit the month mark. Just my 2 cents off the top of my head.

Watch out for the Tang Police with that Clown Tang in there :)
