i have a compac floresent unit that has 2 65 watt bulbs currently the ones that are half 6000k and actinic. i also have a shop light fixture on top with 2 40 watt bulbs 1 10000k and 1 actinic. i want to change bulbs. would this be better? 2 65 watt 10000k compact in that fixture and 2 40 watt actinics in the shop or what would be a pefect combination if there is such a thing.

I've never liked the look of the CF 10K bulbs but that might just be me. I would defiantly move the actinics to the lower wattage fixture.

It's really hard to say. Some people will say the higher K will produce better colouring in your corals. I don't buy it. Between 6500 and 20000K are available but it's up to you what combo you find visually appealing. I will say that less brightness is perceived at hight K ratings.
