    I fully support increasing protection of marine mammals from human generated sound, but it doesn't make any sense comparing a rocket blast to the pulse a sonar produces.

    Sound blasts in air and water have completely different characteristics, which make the comparison completely meaningless.

    I'm a graduate student in acoustics at UBC, this comparison is just a pet-peeve of mine.
