Currently my Gold-stripped maroon is alone, and ill like to add him a mate, now its pretty mean, so would i add a bigger clown? or a smaller clown? or am i to late? he was my first fish in the tank, so he's been there for a little over 8 months.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Always smaller with an established clown present. Your clown is a female and needs a juvenile male, she will most likely kill any else.

Be prepared to take the new clown back. Maroons are famous for being difficult to pair once established in a tank.

If possible change of the scape just prior to introduction, try to introduce with the lights out.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks! Thats a good read, if i do decide to go with another maroon i will be using the egg crating, the problem is my clown is so mean he attacks my mag float when im cleaning my glass, so im not so sure this would be a good idea, i may just trade him in for 2 black/white's and, he's currently around 2 1/2in and to find a smaller one would be pretty hard around here.
