how to clear water?

    what is detritus and how do i get it gone?
    i can always get moe podsfor the mandarin,not a problem.i just didnt know if there was other food he would eat.
    we onle have two lps her in this little town and one has no sw anything so that only leaves the one.

    The store that does sell stuff should still feel some responsibility for what they sell. Make sure you ask questions - if they can't or won't answer them ask us.

    If your mandarin looks skinny he's not eating enough. Buying pods isn't a sure way to make sure they have enough to eat. Running a healthy established tank with a properly sized refugium is about the only way to have them survive in the long term.

    Some people get them to eat frozen foods, but they're really meant to eat constantly while they're awake. Daily or even multiple feedings daily is hard to get them to adapt to. I'd start now.

    to the OP, I agree the water will clear up as the tank matures. Mine took several weeks and I started with cured live rock, a good skimmer, plenty of flow, and lots of polishing pads and a refugium to aid in mechanical filtration.

    My thought too...unplug the pumps for about 2 min and see if it clears. If it does, it is probably bubbles, and you will have to trace where they are originating.

    i just looked at my fish he is fat again.
    i dont what to change what he eats, ill buy him pods.
    i was just asking to see if maybe there was something they eat besides pods.
    and im running with both kinds of filtration.
