I have a mandarin goby and when I try to put live brine shrimp in there they get sucked into the overflow; I also want to add seahorses and more gobys so this is an issue (I raise the brine shrimp so they are healthy ones and also am going to start raising pods outside the tank to supplement.)

You cant stop it unless you turn off your return pump and let all the water level drop so that there is no flow to your sump. The best thing to do its turn off all your power heads of 10 to 15 mins and than add whatever food you decide to feed. With the mady they eat 24/7 always looking for food unless you get a ORA tankraised that eat frozen foods. I have trained one mady to eat frozen but took some time. having the other fish with the seahorses might lead to problems during feeding as well because they sit back and wait for their food to come to them, they are lazy!!! beautiful animals tho and had a trio for a year until my tank decided to crack :-/ spot feeding might be an option also
