I just got a very nice piece of colt coral that the guy fragged off when I got to his place. What is the best way to get it to attach to my live rock? I don't have any rubber bands or string in the house so I just pinched the base between 2 pieces of rock would that work just as well? Thanks.

do you have an extra body wash lufa/loofa/poofy thing that hasn't been used? Cut that up to hold it down and protect it!

if it shrinks up at night enough it might get loose and you will never see it again. ive lost a few before from not tying them down

Yea I see where you're coming from. My tank is onyl a 10gal and it's a very big frag so I'm not worried about losing it. Also it is pretty much skunk down to as small as it can get from being fragged and tossed into a container, going through the 10 mins drive back to my place and the acclimation process, so I'm not overly worried about it getting loose, it's stuck pretty good, but I guess I'll see in a few days when it starts to open up again.

As long as the base is firmly against the rock and it remains completely stationary, it should attach in a couple weeks regardless how it's being held in place. :)

That should work, I've done that with several leathers. They just need a couple of weeks and they should be grown on.

+1. Mine was attached to a sea shell when I bought it. Crammed the shell into a hole in my LR and now the kenya tree has attached itself completely to the rock. Only way to remove it I think would be to cut it out :p

Hunt was right lol eventhough it was really skunk when I pinched it between the rocks it still came loose twice last night, so I ended up using a clean shoe lace and tying it to a piece of small rock. As long as I didn't tie it too tight it won't end up splitting where the shoe lace is right? I made sure that the lace wasn't too tight but tight enough to keep the base pressed against the rock

    Rubberbands work well.
