So I have two pec clowns and im trying to get them to host at least on of the two frogspawn I have in my tank. Both of the corals are right by there over hang where they hangout but they wont host them. The most I have seen one of them do was swim over to one of them and quickly rub its face on a single tentacle and then swim away. This is making me really bummed because it was one of the main reasons why I wanted to start salt water.

I just put up a picture of clowns hosting a frogspawn so we will see if that helps.
Do you guys know of any tricks?

It's a roll of the dice with clowns, sometimes they will ignore a perfectly good nem to host a spawn or bubble coral or something Sometimes they wont host anything. Is the pair tank raised or wild caught? Tank raised nems generally dont have anything to host in the breeder tanks so it takes a while for the instinct to kick in...if ever.

Well frogspawn, although clowns have been known to host it, isn't something that they will commonly host. You also cannot make clowns host anything if they don't want to.

I have clowns with two anemone's that they're species is known to host commonly and they don't care about it. These clowns were also tank bred and have never had a need for an anemone. Clowns in the wild always have an anemone for protection.

I have another tank with a wild caught clarkii that dove into his anemone 15 mins after I put it in there, but in this case, it was wild caught and probably lived it's life in anenome's until it was caught and brought to captivity.

I have heard of people using the picture trick, never known anyone personally though to see if it really works.

Invite them to dinner first then talk to them lol

Put a big high resolution picture and stick it in the tank.

It's a crap shoot with clowns. Wild caught is the ones you will have a better chance with hosting as stated before.

my false percs have NEVER shown interest in my anemone (been about 7 months now). Its never going to be a guarantee with any anemone. Just try to enjoy the clowns anyway. I know I was way bummed but i still love my clowns and my anemone :)
