Anyone know how long until my Ocellaris clowns might host the bubble tip anemone? The anemone has been in the tank a week now. It has found it spot and today actually is the largest I have seen it since putting it in last Friday. The clowns have come close but not gone in yet. I'm guessing it is probably a wait and see type process.

If it were my cinnamon clown, he would have been in it already especially when trying to find the long tentacle I have in the large tank. He loves to snatch whenever I try to put food in for it.

Give the clowns time and they may TAKE UP RESIDENCE in the BTA. The nem will happily HOST the clowns.

It not find a pic of a nem hosting clowns and paste on the outside of the tank near the nem.

Also try getting a bucket just big enough to fit anemone put clowns in it and put your hand and or net in bucket and that should spook them to take cover in anemone or just give them an hour maybe put a few pieces of food in..

You definitely DO NOT want to do this. The clown builds up an immunity to the sting gradually. They will brush up against it lightly for some time before taking the plunge. Scaring them into it will likely cause death.
Also as John has already pointed out clowns don't host the anemone. The anemone hosts the clown.;)

Thanks for the tip of the picture. I found a nice one online & printed it out and taped it to the tank closest to the anemone. The clowns are starting to swim closer to it lately.

Another person at my saltwater store suggested perhaps finding a seaweed clip with picture of a clownfish on it and placing it near the anemone.

It's too bad I can't get the little plastic clownfish out of my toy size aquarium I have on display in my doll room to epoxy near the anemone but in order to get it out I would have to break the toy.
