I have an aquamedic oceanlight that I want to hang above my tank and it's REALLY heavy. I am going to hang it on a wooden cross member above my ceiling. What should I use to hang it?

An eye bolt with 3-4" of thread penetrating through the drywall and into the wood should suffice.

From that, you could use chain as scenario1313 stated. You could ask for "jack chain" which is lighter, but very strong, or use typical chain, but it's probably more expensive and is a bit of overkill IMO.

You know, I've got the exact same ones. I think they only handle like between 18-20#'s?

    22lbs/pair. I have them also.

They are AWESOME if your light isn't too heavy.

They sell kits to hang lights that are thin cable. they are nice because it give you a finished look. Not sure it that is important or not. If it's not they I agree with the suggestions above.

what i did with my light Tek likght is I have a shelf above my tank, so i used metal rods and bolted the rods to the shelf and bolted the shelf to the wall. so i have mine hanging off the metal rods.
So just an idea if you don't want to hang from the ceiling

Yeah, got the wire suspension kit....it does work great Chick. I've got a CoralifePro fixture that weighs more than a tank so I had no other options. I bought a pair for like $22.
They are also made by Coralife Jhawk.
