I am not ready for Live rock yet, but might get some. How do I keep them alive?I have seen some people use bucket, heater, and powerhead. Is that the best way to keep them alive?

    Thanks

You can go to some place like walmart and buy one of those big storage bins. Place the live rock in it with saltwater, a heater and powerheads.

You will need to feed it occasionally so the beneficial bacteria doesn't starve, and if they have coralline algae that you want to keep, you'll also need a good light.

Thank you so much everyone. So basically it's just a cycling which eventually can help my tank when it's ready. So I can use the water I assume?

I wouldn't use the water. I don't think anything good can come of putting dirty water in your tank. The bacteria is on the rock.

True, it won't help. But I can't imagine that it would hurt anything either..

People tend to not like using water from other systems in fear of transferring parasites or algae. Honestly, if it's in the water it's going to be on the rock and/or fish though. I still always haven't used the water but it's likely a false security.
