what does NSW stand for?

 

Natural Sea Water.. But I feel like with any animal man has ever taken in to keep as a pet or for working, the Natural way it lived went out the window as for their food and environment. Same with this hobby The fact they are under unnaturally made light and kept in a drop of water compared to where the came from naturally tell me natural does not apply.
I'll even go as far to state that with every Generation of any coral I have ever had in the last 20 + yrs with each cutting or fragging they have all shown more resistance to disease and faster growth rates and coloration . Clams as-well we as humans have tweaked the lights to suit us unnatural and water parameter also apply to get what we wanted Ain't nothing natural in what we do with aquariums period.

I had a precip issue after over zealous calcium

HI,
I had that more is better thing and when the calcium hit near 550 it crashed , I had excellent Mag of around 1650, but the water just couldn't handle that much ca, Most sea water is a supersaturation of elements what that means it at the limit for dissolving more into it. So when you keep adding things it may precip this is evedent when you algae turns white and the skimmer pumps are sugar coated and it looks like a foggy old day in england in the tank,
You have to wait for the event to finally stop and then check you ca , alk and mag cause most of it fell out in the precip.. take it slow don't push the enevelope or you may experinece the dreaded precip event.
I believe my new fiji mud may have provided the fine dust that started the precip.
Hey its a learning curve it did nock my alk down a bit so that was a good thing it was maxed out from my experiament with kalkwasser. DOn't care for that either
