How to quiet my overflow box.

    The age old question! i can't use a durso standpipe because i have no bulkhead. heres some pictures of my overflow so you can see what type it it.It makes so much noise it's ridiculous. VERY LOUD slurping noises. Here are some pictures so you can see what kind of overflow box i have. is there any alternative or what should i do?

    Your pump is returning water too fast. You need to dial it down more.

    you mean the pump down in the sump is returning water back into the tank to fast? how do i turn it down?

    Install a in-liine ball valve in the return plumbing. Decrease flow until the noise is gone..

    you also may want to raise the pre filter sponge up a bit so the water is forced through the sponge instead of over the top of it, that will also help quiet it slightly as it restricts a bit of the flow, though not completely.

    Exactly. You should have a valve installed after the return pump. I recommend a PVC gate valve instead of a ball valve for the main return. MUCH easier to get dialed in.
