How to raise salt lvls with out stressing

I have I do belive a 2 gallon contain I filled half way. Put salt in and have it at 1.25 and what i will do is use a 8 oz cup to do a replenishment and test an hour after every top off sound?

 

you would still be putting about 4 liters of salt water in one day... i guess that would be alright but otherwise spread what you are doing over 2 days and get the container to 1.026 ,if thats your target, and keep doing so untill you reach it. you need to turn off the ato if you do this however otherwise you are adding 2 liters of water + whatever the ato pumps in as unsalted water messing with your measurements.

this said i have never tried to bring gravity up from .022 .026 in one blast, so iv never witnessed the effects of this on fish or corals.

btw 2 liters was my average evaporation. if you have a stronger evaporation rate then you need to top off a little more, if not when the ato jumps back in it will lower your salinity again slightly

 

The ato is off and I will spread this 1 gallon out today and tomorrow. My target is 1.025

 

Ok first off how big is the system? I have added 1.030 water to my ato on my 120 and a 5 gal bucket of saltwater barely raised it. It takes a lot of saltwater to raise it unless your tank is like 20 gal. I just mix up water and fill my ato with it till my tank is back where I want it.

 

its a 29g +10g sump, well i did about 1/2gallon and it did raise it from 1.022 to 1.023-4 lines hard to read at times.

 

Keep it up you should reach the level you want in under a week

 

i say by sunday night i will have it to 1.024-1.025 then on monday will be the final shot of salt and see if it brings it to 1.025-1.026
