I literaly just bought a 150 gallon tank, and I need to know specifically what I need for it. I was also wondering how to get the water started, and when can I add fish/coral.

Lights, protein skimmer, sump/refugium, return pumps, powerheads, sand, base and live rock....the most important thing u'll need is patience....you wont have any fish or coral in that tank for a while.

    RO/DI unit
a container to store ro/di water and mix saltwater
    salt
    a great protein skimmer
    sand
100 pounds of base rock(most people would recommend more)
a few pounds of live rock
    high power lighting
assumming its drilled, a sump, if its not drilled drill it.

you may want to consider biopellets and a reactor for them and/or a refugium

Start by reading as much as you can.

Are you going to do shallow sand bed, deep sand bed or bare bottom?

Pick a type of salt to use. I like Reef Crystals personally. You have to research to see witch is right for you. You'll need buckets or something to mix the salt and water, a powerhead for mixing and a hydrometer/refractometer.

    You'll need a Protein Skimmer.

Are you gonna use Live Rock, Base rock or a mix?
