I am having a hard time trying to figure out a way to stick frags to Live Rock in the water.

I know some people just cut the plug but I find it hard even trying to mount the plug.

For example, I have a rock in my tank that I want to use as a Ricordea/Mushroom Display Rock. The frag plugs are to big. If I put the mushroom on the rock hey just get swept away by the current. Most of the Mushrooms I have are on rubble rock. I want to know how to mount the shrooms on the rock without removing the rock. I tried SPS Glue but the stuff just hardens as soon as it makes contact with the water.

i picked up some instant ocean hold-fast. its two part putty that you roll together in your fingers till it gets warm and turns white. after about 5 minutes it sets. and it will set in water.

i recently picked some up when i got my first frags and it works like a charm.

I use the gel super glue and glue the rubble rock to the bigger live rock. The gel glue will take a little longer to set, so there is plenty of time to put on the glue and then get it to the rock.

I have also used the putty as well. But l like the super glue better because you can't see it when it dries.

    I use duct tape.

Actually, I super glue frags down. Even shrooms that aren't on rocks. Just takes patience.

Here's what I do. First I don't buy any epoxy putty or gel superglue labeled specifically for the hobby. It's way over priced JUST because of the labeling.
I use LOKTITE UltraGel and AquaMend two part epoxy putty. Both are sold at HomeDepot and I can buy one tube of each for less than the cost of a single .07oz tube of gel frag glue labeled for the hobby.

Softies- I dab the water and slime off the base with a paper towel, put a good dab of gel on, press it to the rock and wiggle it a little, then hold it in place for a few seconds.

Plugs and hard corals I've popped off the plug- I dry the contact point, put a good dab of gel on, put a good sized ball of 2part epoxy on top of that, then put another glob of gel on top of the epoxy. If I'm mounting into a hole I just push it straight in. If it's to a 'flat' surface I press the piece on at a 90* angle then twist it upright into position.

I also use the Locktite superglue gel. Works great and dries underwater. I just hold what i am mounting in place for about 15 seconds.
