Well you need to address the cause like newreef says, cut back on feedings, cut back the light cycle, etc.. Also a clean up crew will help clean up what algea is there, and good filtration is essential if you have a heavy bio load (what do you have in there, hopefully it isn't way overstocked?) Do you have a skimmer? bio filtration? mechanical? Do you have a fuge? they will greatly cut down your nitrates/phosphates.

Just don't try and mask the problem, try and find the cause and look after that first.

    Welcome Stokes!

Give us the details on your system---Water Parameters, fish, filtration, what kind of water do you use-RO or tap?

    Everybody will be helpful

If your tank is overstocked you can always change that!
Believe me it wouldn't be the first time that has happened.

I have 3 clownfish (one of them is black) and 2 damsels. 20 gallon filter and a heater. no skimmer.

I would definitely say you are over stocked! Is there anyway you can return some fish for credit? Say all but one, I personally don't think 10 gallons is enough for one of those, but there are some that will say with good husbandry and maintenance you could do one. Sorry but that's just way too many fish for that tank and not nearly enough filtration, IMHO. What kind of filter is it? you say for 20 gallon, is like one of those hang on the back deals? Do you have any live rock?

Also if two of those clownfish pair up, they will almost certainly kill the 3rd.

That is the first thing that came to mind too.

A protein skimmer doesn't hurt much either when it comes to phosphates.
