Looking for the best lighting options and most recommended items. I have a 150W MH 14k Phoenix bulb over my tank, not giving me the color i like. Got a bit of money to spend, nothing too much, looking for some supplemental color options, such as the BOOST LED par 30 bulbs or similar. Chances are I would hang this from the ceiling or enclose my canopy to put all my lighting inside that.

Tell us what you want the tank to look like colorwise and how it looks now.

T5HO and LED are good options for supplemental lighting.

+1, also, what are the dimensions of the tank and if you could give a FTS (full tank shot) with the halide on that would be great.

My tank looks decent. Im at a crossroads between deciding whether i want to supplement with daylight 10000k or 20000k or actinic/leds. Basically the colors just look dull, i feel like the tank is neither dark blue with colors popping, nor bright enough for daylight situation. Ill post some FTS and show the setup.

I also have done some more work on my canopy. I was planning on hanging my halide an inch below the underside of the sheet of plywood, that way i can reduce heat from the fixture to the plywood and still be able to adjust the height of the fixture. I was thinking about either running retrofit kit of T-5s alongside the 150W MH, or running LEDS, or 2 Par30 bulbs on each side of it.

Also, do you see any problem with the heaviness of this canopy over my tank? its prolly less than 25 pounds, but im just wondering.

if ur wondering, the weight of the canopy will rest on those two bottom 2x4s which rest on the top edges of the width of the tank.

One of the benefits of lowering that plywood sheet where the fixtures will attach is that i can easily store food and tools above the canopy now :)
