I've tried numerous settings on my phone camera as well as a digi cam. What is the best setting on most cameras to take reef photos. Everytime I take a pic everything looks WAY to blue and you can't see any of the other colors. Flash? No flash? I'm not great with cameras and pics so just looking for some tips! Thanks guys.

It's best when the room is dark. Tank lights on. Leave the room lights off. No flash. Flash creates glare/reflections. Use the macro setting if you want closeups on corals. My camera has a manual setting where I can go in and adjust it to the current lighting. Idk if yours has that. You should be able to go to more lighting controls. Mine has 3 different menus for setting the lighting controls.

If you can adjust the white balance on the camera manually, you can color correct pictures. You just need to take a sample shot of something white in or near the tank. PVC, piece of paper, white rock, whatever.

definetly use macro, some cameras even have digital macro (test both see which one looks better in your case), also try playing around with the ISO settings.. it might make a huge difference in some cases.. and like the others said tank light on, room light off, flash off.

Thanks guys/gals! I did find the macro shot setting, and boy did that help. Much better pics in the macro setting.
