I know on Digitata and birdsnest etc the tips with new growth are white. Is this the same with Acros or is there a different way to see new growth on them? This is a definate newbie question because I am new to Acros! :p

It does depend on the Acro. Some tips will be blue and others white. Some others will be other colors.

...tips on my green one is blue..Thought it was damaged at first, but when new growth started coming out the sides, it was blue also..don't really know if its right, but that's what it is. : )

edit: 2in10 siad it...so I guess the blue is common as well.

I notice new growth on my acros when they get bigger. :p Couldn't help it. Most of mine have grown outward (encrusting) before they grew up, or formed new branches.

Ok, so it just depends on the color type of acro. The new growth tips will just generally be a different color than the rest? That's what I was thinking, but I just needed a second opinion. :p

Usually the color will be lighter than the other tissue.

I also notice that the tip (the coralite on the tip) of the acro is flat when growth is at its best.

IME, montiporas/pociloporas/birdsnest/hystrex new growth has white tips. Staghorns have a neon white polyp that extends out of the growing tips, two of my tortusas' encrusted and got stockier before branching, valdida growth tips are usually a different color (usually blue or purple) from the base of the coral, and tend to encrust before branching. Most other SPS growth is a lighter color of the body.
