How to tell you rhino is not happy...

    He had enough of the tank cleaning.

    This is true of all scorps. They flare their fins and "stand", puff up their gills, bring their heads down and spines forward and when you see the bootie coming off the sand like that.... that's the last straw. After this point they get agitated and can dart around the tank. They really just want to get away, but where can they go in our tanks? So, they just sort of frantically dart around looking for a way out. This is when it's dangerous for you, so remove your hands before it gets to this point.

    I havent been stung yet....gotta be careful. so far the leaf hasnt seemed to mind...although i dont spend much time with my hands in the tanks... lol

    Might I suggest a magnet cleaner. ;D

    BTW, I hand clean my mantis tanks so I really can't talk (and I keep the larger species that really can harm you).

    There's a scratch removal kit in my cupboard from the past... I don't use magnets anymore. :/

    I actually do the top half down as far as I can reach and still see the rhino from the side. To reach the bottom I'd have to blindly put my arm in up to my armpit. Hubby does the bottom half and I do a play by play of scorp movements.

    I was probably saying "Watch him Dood..... he's TICKED!".
