Not worth it! It only has one reflector and a good t-5 will have a seperate reflector for each bulb. Light's are like protien Skimmer's if it doesnt have a high price it aint no count! Since you are looking for a good T-5 for a 48 inch tank I assume it is either a 55 gsll or a 75 in either case you will be happier with the 6 bulb. good luck..

the first is a oddysea, im trying a small version out on my planted tank. i would probably rate it with compact flourscent lighting. so its very weak as far as t5 go.

i dont know about the second one

alright well I am just kind of looking right now and will hopefully be buying new lighting next week. Unfortunately I have to wait til then because I lost my wallet so I had to cancel everything and I really need my debit card before I can buy anything. But anyways im just looking for ideas if anyone has any. Thanks

When looking at T5 lighting, it's all about the reflectors. Most of the inexpensive fixtures only have one large reflector for all of the bulbs. The best you can do it individual parabolic reflectors, but those are only on the higher end models. If you are looking at the Nova Extreme Pro, just go with a Tek fixture, they have individually countoured reflectors, not the best, but definitely not the worst, a good compromise. The problem with the Nova Extreme Pro is that it's reflectors don't run the entire length of the bulb, don't know why, but they decided to do that.
