Hi everyone. Im Zach, new to this forum but not the hobby. I'v tried the other forums and theyre uhh... nausiating; but this one seems pretty nice.

I just took down a 20G Nano, and am in the process of setting up a new crazy expensive completely custom 70g Starfire cube tank that will house a few Tangs, and a Tridacna Gigas, along with some exotic Zoos and Mushrooms, so watch for that coming soon!

Have a good one! - Zach

    Welcome to 3Reef!

A few tangs? I hate to be the one to tell ya, I wouldnt keep more then 1 tang in a 70g. If its a true cube, I wouldnt keep a tang. Tangs need lots of room to swim and forage/graze.

    Hey Zach!!! Welcome...
    I wish you luck-
A word of advice for you about the Tangs...to help avoid complications through aggressive behavior and some of the sizes that Tangs can attain, I would purchase small sized Tangs, especially if they are the same type!!! As Geekdafied hinted at, they do require alot of room for foraging as is their nature in our reefs! Also, same species in the same tank can be detrimental to one or all of your Tangs due to boisterous behavior. Size can be an issue as well, for example, a Sailfin Tangs can grow to 7" in length or more.
Surgeons will do better in the same tank, though the size of the tank is a major concern as a large tank is ideal for them.
The number of other fish in the tank will also need to be looked at as well.
What ever you choose, Tangs will need to be fed a varied diet with algae being their main staple, supplemented with vitamin C to reduce the chance of lateral line disease and color loss. They also are very susceptible to Amyloodinium(ICH).
I would read up on Tangs in general to help you if this is in fact what you ultimately decide to go with!!!
Tangs make a great addition to a tank, whether it be a reef or fish only tank!
With the right amount of care and preparedness, you will have a longterm and colorful companion in your tank IMO!
    Best of luck!

The room is still there with a cube - it just dosent look it. A LFS I frequent keeps 3 smaller tangs + other fish in a similar setup (only slightly larger) and they are thriving (lfs also uses an oversized skimmer, which I will do). Im looking -at most- to stock it with 2 tangs, either both juvi hippos or 1 jh 1 powder brown... and if they eventually get too big, i'll swap them for more juvi's. There will be plenty of LR, so grazing wont be an issue.

I just sold of my tang that I had in a 75g cause it grew to big, and it was a yellow tang, maybe 1.5 years old.

Tangs stress really easy, and blue hippo's are the worst for that IMO. Tangs are aggressive, that was another I got rid of the yellow tang. The bigger they get, the more aggressive they become. Im not trying to a butthead, just trying to prevent ya making mistakes or future problems.

If you decide to go with a Brown Tang! Make sure it is a White-Faced Tang(Acanthurus japonicus)(same color pattern and shape, just much more hardier and desireable than the historically poor feeder/often dying within a few weeks brown tang(Acanthurus nigricans)!
