It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You can leave the fish. It might prove more of a challenge at this age of the tank.

Look into Microbacter7, keep up on the water changes, export as many nutrients as you can though marco algae and skimming.

I just to not want the fish to not get enough to eat, because you are trying to cut back on the feeding to control the algae. It's a really fine balance.

right alk or DKH - would be between 7 and 11 Mkizla

you do need to know your Calcium and Magnesium levels before you start making adjustments for the DKH
otherwise you may find your increasing 1 at the expense of another

From my experience most small tanks that are not sps Dom
Don't starting running low on mag and cal as long as there is water changes at least every two weeks IE my tank is suffering from low alk but my mag and cal are ok my tank just sucks up alk I believe it's from the small about of sps 7-8 pieces and large amount of rock growing Coraline algae and now within two weeks of doseing alk and keeping it 11-12 I have a massive amount of Coraline growing everywhere..
I had a alk of 6.5 two weeks ago and I lost a lot of my sps and now understand that this has Been a long time issue for me.
