Ok I know I'm on board late with the evo, but my contract with sprint is finally up march 1st and I can upgrade my phone.
Anyone with a evo on here? Is it still a good phone?

I have a samsung moment right now which I hate with a passion so I don't want to make the mistake of buying the wrong phone again.

    Any info is appreciated!

    I own one.
    And ironically not by choice.
I had Verizon with our company before and was a MotoDroid owner (1st generation) - I loved that phone. It did everything I could have hoped it would and never gave me problems.

Then comes the day we switch over to Sprint so I must get a new phone. Seeing no other choice but the EVO I took the dive.

Glad I did~!!!! Been almost 2 months with the phone.

    PROS:
Screen is huge but the phone overall is not cumbersome.
    Never freezes/trips up
    Built-in radio is a plus
HDMI Output to link to your TV

    Cons:
Battery life - but no surprise - we use the hell out of these devices which are ALWAYS sending/receiving signals 24/7 plus a lot of video to display on the large screen.
It's on Sprint - Verizon is better for service in the areas I frequent

Overall tho - very happy with the phone despite not really having much of a choice in the first place. The camera has some fun customization options in terms of manual settings not seen all that often (saturation, contrast, etc). Watching video clips or using the navigation is amazing with the huge screen. Can't believe I used to think my LG EnV (1st Generation) had such a "huge" screen on the inside!!!

This is a great phone that will get you through until you are able to get rid of it for something better in 2 years!!!!

Engadget is the best site for electronics. I'd go with there advice. Friend of mine has an evo, it's a big phone comparing to others, but maybe that's what you like.
    iPhone all the way.

I have one. Love it. Everything about it is great, by far the best phone I've owned. Battery life is not horrible, as some say. I've owned many "smart" phones, and battery life on all of them is less than "dumb" phones. Sprint's coverage in my area is superb...plus, I have 4G coverage here...not many do in large markets.

As far as I know, large markets don't have it yet (on any carrier). Smaller/Mid markets do (Charlotte, OK City, San Antonio...). Large markets like NYC, LA, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Philly...none of those have 4G yet, but most likely will within this year. I've had 4G coverage since the day the Evo came out...it is faster, compared to my wife's Samsung Moment.

There is some 4G coverage just outside NYC in NJ. I am literally 3-4 miles away from being in the coverage zone where I am in my office!!!!

If you can wait until the summertime I would. The next generation chipsets will be out for mobile devices rendering the Evo and any other phone pretty much weak sauce compared to. Plus, the new chips are dual core meaning there will be better performance (obviously) and longer battery life. Wait if you can, I've been waiting and I'm so ready to jump onboard with a new phone.

Unfortuantely I can't wait. My contract I'm on now is with my x fiance and I need to get off of that asap lol I also don't want to deal with my current phone for one second longer than I have to. Its a pos.
I was looking at the thunderbolt coming out for verizon but I get a 23% off sprint contract with my work. Sprint is cheaper even without the discount also.
Evo is my choice right now since I am staying with sprint.
Detroit does not have 4g so it will not be able to run that. Although they say it should be within the next year.
So all in all everyone is happy with the evo? Seems like it should be a lot better than what I got now.

Oh and I'm anti-apple so I phone is out. :)
