Huge Mantis

She was so brightly colored that everyone was sure that Bob was a male. A clutch of eggs proved otherwise. ;D

 

They aren't as dangerous as many people think. My cousin somehow ended up with one in his live bait. He said he had been sticking his hands in there all night and never noticed. Towards the end of the night when finding the live shrimp became a chore he finally noticed it. Of course he didn't put his hand in there for the rest of the night and was completely freaked that he already had put his hand in there so many times. When he got it home we figured out that it was a spearer. Talk about close calls!

He ended up keeping it as a pet, but we haven't seen it in a couple weeks. We fear the worst may have happened.
