You should ask him why is he feeding a marine herbivore freshwater fish?!?

Most purples are fine with the exception of one or two coral nipping renegades, he will most likely be fine unless you have another tang in the tank!
Just for curiosity, how mush do purples go for in good ole Kentucky?

    Happy reefing!

I have a purple tang for about a year now and I love him. He's so pretty and eats anything I put in the tank. Usually Mysis shrimp or Formula One. He is always working on the live rock. I have heard they can harass other new fish but I havn't had any problems. When I add something new, I feed him first so he is distracted. When I sit and watch the tank I swear he parades in front of me to show off and say "Hey, look at me!"

The 72 bow is what I have and from what I hear it is fine. I guess it shouldn't be much smaller. He seems to have plenty of room.

I'm sure the tang eats guppies because he was lacking food. If it was given the choice, it probably wouldn't eat guppies over nori or some sort of algae or brine shrimp - having said that, fish are weird ;)
