What's the humane way to kill snails? I'm going to kill these whelks that decided to munch on my derasa, and use them as food.

Boiling water is humane enough for restaurants...

But actually, if you're gonna feed it out... freezer. Cooking takes away nutrients.

do you have a sump to put them in? Do you have to kill them? Trade them in or even give them to the LFS
You need to put some saltwater in a ziplock bag and place it in the freezer. Saltwater does not freeze fast so you need to leave it in there for a bit. But from what I read and heard, there metabolism just slows down in the freezer and basically go to sleep.

You won't need to add saltwater... snails can be shipped in wet paper.

Nobody wants whelks lol. They eat bivalves. Pretty much exclusively.

The only more-humane use of them than food is.....as bait for polyclad flatworms lol

I was going to suggest throwing them into a mantis tank, but I see you already intend to use them as food for something else. I think smacking their shell apart with a hammer is plenty humane. Probably instant death and seems pretty close to how they would die if a predator ate them.

I'm gonna feed them to my shrimp; they eat nearly anything that's already dead.
