    I've always just placed snails in the freezer. Never seen any reaction from them.

    after the freezer dont forget to pull out some horseradish, tobasco sauce, and saltines.. Yum Yum.

    LOL I've seen threads on killing snails get out of hand, since there are lots of opinions on the matter. As several people already noted, the most commonly used method (and the one I use) is to freeze them. If you freeze-thaw-freeze-thaw them, the animal will come out of the shell easily, at least most of the time, and you can then wash the shells out and keep them without stinking up the house...again, most of the time.
