I woke up this morning and found my pepermint shrimp eating my pumping Xenia. I moved the xenia to a different location but was wondering if anyone else has had or seen this happen. The Pepermint shrimp has done a great job with Aipastia. Now I wonder what do I do with this hungry shrimp. Any thoughts out there.

yes I have seen the exact same thing. my tank still has aiptasia and I have noticed my xenia missing some heads. so it would seem the corals taste better than the aiptasia to my peppermint.

Wow, and with all that I have read on Pep shrimp not once was this even a caution or concern, I guess I need to return him to LFS. Now I wonder if this is common or just a few. Thanks for the input. I just checked the xenia and it has opened up again, it doesnt look so bad I must have just caught him when he started.

yeah mine doesnt feed on them all the time. I just noticed the damage on my xenia a few days ago and the only new addition to my tank was the peppermint shrimp. he has also taken up home right near the base of my xenia. so once aiptasia are gone, I may have to return them also.

Well I actually saw this little guy perched in front of the xenia and ripping our one of the tops. I scared him away with a siphon back he came back and took another top, thats when I moved the xenia, but after I moved it the shrimp came back looking for them, and I noticed 3 hermits perched on the same spot where the xenia were.

my peppermints definitely ate my corals. After the aiptasia is gone they sometimes munch on coral. Sell them, trade them or give them away. If the aiptasia comes back get more!
