I recently got a St. Thomas mushroom from Coral Morphologic and man do they like their meaty foods. The first time I fed it I was amazed at its feeding response. So the next time I fed it I decided to make this video. It's approx 460 still photographs and spans about 3-4 mins in real time and was done with just actinics on, hence the dark blue. Enjoy, I know I do everytime I watch this awesome mushroom.

ive always wondered this. Is this really a feeding response or just mushrooms enclosing themselves due to a foreign object which they would consider being harassed. I know that when enclosed they will eat whatever it is. However is it FACTUAL that it is a feeding response or just a instinctual response to close when bothered?

I think it's a feeding response personally. I seen a grain of sand dropped on it or other corals before with no response and my shrimp will walk on it or sometimes to stand there and still no response.

Agreed. I had a Bullseye Mushroom that would fold into a ball, but only when a piece of meaty food landed on it.

Cool video, BTW... thanks for sharing. :)

I have been thinking about purchasing one of these. Any idea how fast they split/multiply?
