If you can't get a generator, see about a power inverter and a couple of car batteries to run your pumps. Would suggest a couple of live bait aerators but the batteries don't last long and you may need to run them for a couple of days.

    PS Good luck!

your local fish store should have some battery operated air pumps...depending on your tank size get a couple...

or you can go to wal mart and go to the fishing area and look for a livewell airpump...its battery operated as well..

also get a lot of batteries

Best advice I can give if its not to late go get some battery opperated air pumps and batteries. Can be picked up at walmart, bait stores, and petco. Also freeze some water bottle of water to help with temp.

I expect at least a 1 day power outage also. I picked up one of these and will have an extension cord from my car running a powerhead and an air pump. Not much else to do really without a generator or a UPS backup or something similar. A lot of the essential electric backup systems are now out of stock or very hard to find. I bought the last inverter shown below from my local RadioShack this afternoon. They've been going like hotcakes. I wasn't able to find any battery powered pumps at any of my LFS. Guess I waited too long..

Do you have any fishing stores around like Grander mountain or Academy? They should have Hush Bubbles, battery operated bubbles for you aquarium. Thats how my puffer survived hurricane Ike. In a bucket with those. Lived in it for three weeks.

I have the same problem, I've been trying to find a generator since Monday...everywhere sold out, my fault though. I've been meaning to pick one up for a long time, just laziness. Even Craigslist, people are holding out on selling their generators, even if you offer them full asking price...guess they are hoping they would fetch a premium in a few days.

Get some battery powered air pumps, depending on the size of the aquarium. Also, as mentioned above, using a frozen water bottle does help to cool the water. And if the temperature is too low for some unknown reason, put hand warmers in a ziploc bag and then into the tank.

gl with the power man. computer battery back-ups work great, as well as battery powered air pumps.
