Hi, the best solution I found that has a high success rate is the use of a tank divider. If you have a good section of the tank where a divider can be installed, you introduce the new fish into the divided section of the tank. This is best if the divided section is not the area of the tank that the other Tang has claimed. It provides time for the new fish to acclimate and not be bothered and gives the existing fish time to get acquainted with its' new mate. I have used this to separate fish and teach them and has worked. I suppose you could also use a large HOB refugium type container inside although the divider allows more swimming room. 1 week is the appropriate time for the separation unless the new fish shows signs of stress.

We already have a forum called 'coral health.' I am going to hold on on new forums as I already have a hard enough time getting people to post on the right ones. Breaking it much further down will not help that.

Plus your question is about fish. It really should be in the 'tropical fish' board. Please start a new thread there.
