They changed them on the evos also, or at least they did on the 1500(formerly 1400). See the thread i posted about this a few months ago to see the difference. The covers were bulkier as well on the new evos.

The magnets swell over time and need replacing. My last shafts lasted over 2 years and were replaced for free.;) I am sure you will get the beefier covers as well. Let us know what impeller they send you.

It says nothing on the website........ It states new impeller technology but does not specify which models it pertains to.

IMHO- The Korailia Evo's do have some minor design flaws, or at least areas they could be improved.

My pet peeve with my 2 Evo's (they run continuos) is that the slots for the intake are too close together!

I know many, if not most people take their out, soak them in a reagent like vinegar, clean, and re-install.

I don't. I get a toothbrush, grab it, and scrub out the intake grooves, while it's running usually.

My other two marineland maxijets with the fans on them (THESE move some water!), they have nice large slots, that really rarely get clogged up.

Never the matter, I'm going to get some of these newer WP40's, or a WP25's when they come out- awesome reviews from multiple countries on multiple websites.

I was looking to upgrade to the 1500 and soon discovered that Big Al's was the only place that listed the 1500.It was also the cheapest.(My man..lol)

The Koralia Evolution is an improved Koralia with higher flow and lower power consumption than the traditional Koralia. Ideal for marine and reef tanks, these pumps simulate natural ocean currents within your aquarium system. The Evolution series pumps include several innovations including: a new and improved vibration absorbing magnet-suction cup mounting system for secure placement, a more compact design making them easier to conceal, and a new shaft-less impeller technology and unique impeller design allowing for a wide and gentle flow pattern. The Koralia Evolution pumps consume 50% less power, while providing 20% more water flow. They are also controllable, as they can be connected to a timer such as the Hydor Smartwave pump controller. The Koralia Evolution 1500 replaces the Koralia 1400. It produces 1500 GPH at 6.5W.

This is the only thing I could find..I am pretty sure they are in the process of replacing all the Evo's and upgrading them .My 1500 will be here next week.

Does anyone have any pictures of the 1500's? I have email Hydor but they only responded about my 1400's and did not answer any questions on the 1500. What specifically is different?

+1 1500 gph as opposed to 1400gph and uses .5 more watts.

They r in the tank so the pic isn't very informative. Other than the bulkier front cover, from the outside they look identical to the Evo 1400s that I replaced. The impeller has been completely redesigned tho and now has a stainless steel shaft. I did lots of looking online after I got them and couldn't find anything from hydor explaining the design change. The second pic is from the manual and shows the different impeller design with shaft. The shaft seems to be attached to the body of the pump. The box had these listed as 1500 gph but the silver sticker on the top of the pump was still labeled 1400.

Looking at the photos and of the box I can't tell any differences at all from my 1400's? The impeller looks identical as do the covers unless there is something in the front section of the cover we can't see?

The change in the covers is pretty slight and better felt than seen. The impellers are different but the main difference is the shaft. In the pic from the manual u can see it sticking out from the pump body. If yours looks like that then u got a new one.
