hello, i would have put this in the general forum but it wouldnt let me for some reason. im going to the lfs today too get a new ph for my 44 gal. corner. They have all the hdor koralia models,1,2,3,and 4. i really like how easy it will be to position in my tank, i have a maxi jet for top agitation along with a spray bar. Im def not paying 100 sumthin for a tunz, that my friend is robbery. what id like to know is if any of you have the hydor? how do you like it? i was thinking about getting the #3 850 gph, but im worried if 850 gph will make a sand storm in my 44 gal corner. should i go with the #2 600gph?
any thought on these ph would be appreciated.
    thank you

I just added the #3 to my 90gallon to go along with my modified mj1200. Add the return line of about 600gph, and I have a total of about 2900gph water circulation. The maxi jet is near the top and the hydor is opposite side, but a little lower on the tank. I do not get any sand kicking up, but there is a lot of flow and it is a new tank with about 4 inches of sand and 100lbs. of base and live rock. I love the hydor, and being a newbie to the hobby, my opinion would be a #2 for your size tank.

I have a two koralia 3's in mine, one either side of the tank both pointing to the middle. They work really well and I recommend them, the disbursement is wide so going for a more powerful model shouldn't really be a problem and I dont get any sand storms. The corals and fish love the flow and from my point of view the more the better.

i picked up the #2 today and i think, it was the right choice any more i think i would have a whirlpool,i made the mistake of letting the two magnets connect to each other, man are those things strong. overall im extremely pleased. no more friggin around with suction cupsTHANK GOD, Tunze better watch out , tunze need to start encrusting thier's in diamonds if they want people to pay over 100$ for a ph.

I think the only benefit for a Tunze expensive powehead is that it won't suck up some small animals like the hydor could. (I think mine has chopped a few brittlestars) I have the korillia 2 which seems to be alot in my 29 gallon.

A tank that small the hydor koralia 2 is all you need they really are far better then any maxijet . Mount it several inches below the water surface point it up wards and you will get flow all over the tank and more surface agitation then you ever had. The 3 would be far to much. We have and use them and the ice cap vortex unit as well and also the cheaper tunzie flow pumps and the vortex run's 350.00 compared to the 30.00 for the H/K the Vortex is better but not that much. But at work we get to write off mistakes or sell them as used for our cost..

They also now have a HK Nano - puts out 240 gal/hr. Nice for the smaller cubes.

Yes we just got two of them in yesterday to try out for a couple of smaller holding tanks for our different shrimps and such.. Things you'd not put in a larger tank..have yet to open the box's :) Its a great pump for the price.. I put a H/K 3 on a 180 and it rolls the water as well as the Mag 2400 I use for internal circulation.

We are using the 4 in our 72 bowed and we have it pointed at the waterline while having a Seio 620 pointed towards the back of the tank. With this setup we are getting a wave effect without the use of a wave machine...8)
