I have a 65 gallon tank with hard and soft corals. I just recently swaped from a 37 gallon and was using the nano koralias out of the 37 g in my new 65 gallon.I thought that i could possibly use more power so i got two of the evolution 1050 gph powerheads. I hooked them up and within a couple of hours my tank was a wreck and all my corals where closed up and my sand had made several mounds. I take it that there is to much flow but i dont understand i didnt think that would be to much. someone please help me.Thanks

Nah, not too much flow! I just upgraded my 55g from 2 750's to 2 1400 eve's and my corals were ticked off to. My toadstool just opened up to the first time in 3 days, and my frogspawn is finally looking ok again. Ya may lose a couple though.

How do you have them placed and aiming?

Try the rear corners, about half way down, and facing the front middle top. this should create a nice wave like action and get any direct flow away from anything sensitive

Put one on each side of the tank, the long direction, near the top, facing the other side, aimed parallel, not aimed directly at each other. Aim them slightly toward the surface.

IDK if I'd trust a noob like 2in10, only 15k posts? come on slacker!

BTW OP, once ya move them, let them work for awhile so you can see what the new position is doing, takes a bit to get the new flow regular! That sounds like a Metamucil direction ;)

i had a koralia 1050 in my 29g biocube for a very long time, however it was aiming up and directly at a rock, it still gave super sexy flow in my little tanky wanky

Thanks. I hooked one of the 1050 gph up with my two nanos all night. It looks like its doing ok but i am going to wait to hook the other one up for a little bit. I dont want to mash them all at once with the flow.

I have two 1050s in our 52 gal and encountered the sand mound issue initially. I like to leave them in the same place for a day or so then observe what changes have happened. I'm still trying to get the fine tuning down. :)
