Chinese hats aka. Keyhole limpets will help to control the hydroid population as well from what I hear!

No, Chocolate Chip Sea Stars are NOT reef safe!!! Peppermints and Banded shrimp can be housed together in my opinion.

Size: The Chocolate Chip Sea Star may grow to 6 inches.
    Diet: Carnivore.
Feeding: It likes to eat Eats meathy bits of seafood and detritus. Also will eat corals, anemones, urchins, crustaceans, small fish and anything else it can catch..
Behavior: The Protoreastor nodosus is generally aggressive toward other tankmates.

Good for: Cheap Harlequin Food. (and maybe hydroid eradication  )

Beginning to look like the peppermint shrimp are the good guys.

When I pulled the CC star out, there were still some scattered hydroids and small colonies here and there in tank.

Can't find a one now. :whip:

Actually, now that they are gone, I actually kind of miss them. They were kind of pretty in a way and were tolerable as long as they stayed put. I have lived with them for a long time.

Their departure has left some definite "bare" spots on rock.

Guess I will have to make trip to LFS to find replacement. ;D
