Who else has gotten lucky and avoided a cycling tank.

I setup a 90 gallon reef back in December 9, 2004 and immediately added 130 pounds of live rock seemed to be already cured, and 45 pounds of Old Castle Sand along with 25 pounds of agralive live sand. I also added critters quicker than I should have mainly hermits and snails and also a yellow tang and some pecula's. I kept a close eye on ammonia levels and nitrite levels and neither one has even budged past 0 ppm to this day.

Yeah I've noticed a good amount of live rock and live sand seems to help a lot.

Mine never really got high with this 20 long, but I did get some diatoms briefly.

started my nano up on January 30th & added a bag of live sand & 13# of lr. Got a deal on the remaining 12# (been in the guys tank for over 3 years) & checked my parameters on 2-13-05 & everything was ready to go!

Yeah, When I set up my 120g I used live sand and live rock along with a wet/dry that had been in use in another tank and I had no spike in my ammonia or nitrites.

Ditto. I set mine up w/ about 50 lbs of LR and 40 lbs. of live sand and my levels have all stayed good. of course my tanks only been set up for about a month so theres still time for all that fun stuff...

I did the same and avoided a major ammonia spike, I did however get the brown algae bloom a month into it and the attack of the killer cynobacteria about 2 1/2 months later. I am sure there is more to come, but I will try to take in all in stride, as should you ;D

I have gotten algae, but besides cleaning the glass with my magnet algae scrubber every other day no real blooms, hopefully I'm not speaking too soon :). The back glass of my tank has coraline algae growing all over it....looks great!
