My mos recent was the APEX Aquacontroller. Read a lot of great info on controllers in general here at 3reef. I knew time to have some more stability and safety for my system.

My next major purchase is going to be a controller. Going word of mouth and reviews online. Trying to decide between the Apex and RKE.

My last major purchase was a sump for my 150 that I'm hoping to start as a predator tank in the next couple weeks. My LFS had a brand new one with bio balls and all for $200 cash, so i couldn't turn it down.

Major purchase for me consisted of several smaller items that added up: good test kits, good monitors ie., refractometer, tds; good filter media.

That exact reactor was one of my last big purchases.

    I agree, great reactor!

Now for my other big expenditure, my DIY plywood reef tank, I went solely by people's experience with building these on another forum. Don't worry, it is a tiny forum, but they are the woody GODS!

All of my last purchases (ones for my 150g set-up) were decided on by talking to the guys at my not so local lfs, reading reviews, and also asking forum questions.

I find it best to take from many different sources and make my own opinion.

My last major purchase was the 40 breeder that we are using as a fuge - I had a 30, but my very trusted LFS had the 40 sitting around and advised that the extra space would be better! I agreed!

I would say my last MAJOR purchase was a coral order. And I went off personal experience, as I have always been happy before ;) Was from the Reef Gardener, a sponsor here.
