    If it is a mushroom it might just do ok in your tank. Some types of mushrooms actually prefer low level lighting and or shaded areas. Most mushrooms are one of the few corals that can do well in lower standard lighting. Maby try to get an ID and find out. Another one like my pink cauliflower coral is a low lighting coral I had to move it where it was partly under a rock on the bottom of the tank and also underneath my large finger leather where it gets shaded. It is a species that is found under rock ledges and in underwater caves. It expands better with shading and when the lights are completly out the polyps expand fully at night.I wouldnt do this with most corals but there are a few out there that are like that.

    I didn't know that Karlas. After reading all the reefers comments in this forum, I thought all coral needed tons of light. Karma to you!

    Although some corals are non-photosynthetic and do not need light, that usually means that they are more difficult to take care of. Be sure to read up on the husbandry of the corals you are looking into purchasing for a low-light aquarium.
