I bought some pulsing xenia about ooh 2 weeks ago, it was the size of maybe a nickel and now it is about the size of a baseball! this stuff is growing out of control! Its like every time I look at it, it grows more polyps and extensions. I don't know what's feeding it to the point of rapid growth but if I can't control it it will over take my tank, and I can see it now chasing me down the street and eating people to make itself grow. Liquid nitrogen anyone?

Maybe you should of considered this before you went and created the PERFECT TANK THAT GROWS STUFF AT AN EXPONENTIAL RATE!!!! LOL. To my knowledge there is not much that you can do to keep it from grwoing too fast in that I would be afraid to cut out something to slow it down that something else will be affected by. I know there are ways to "trim back" this stuff without them releasing too many toxins. Be sure to read up on proper procedure as I do not know because I have never had to do it.

Forgot to mention that if it is on a smaller and easy to move rock perhaps you could move it to an area with fairly dim light that will keep it alive, but not allow it to grow like it is.

Congrats on the new addition. I found that to keep mine from spreading to much I confined them to a single island rock.

set it in the sand, it won't grow on the sand...

but the way you make it sound, it's going to grow over you in your bed while you are sleeping....

That's what I did with my GSP. I've seen images where it took over entire tanks. I placed that bugger right on a rock and that went in the sand. Now its getting CRAZY new growth fast.

Yea, my problem I placed it on a large rock near the top of the tank, and now it has taken hold. I didn't think that it would grow that fast but I can take it off the rock and place it on another.

It might work for you. If its growing like you said then it might be a good idea to move it so it doesn't go The Blob on your tank :D
