well first off you have to take in to consideration height from sump to tank for return rate once you figure that out you want atleast 10x the flow rate many people recommend higher i have heard 20x before but im positive you would be fine with 10x. i like the gen-x. you also have quiet one eheim and maxi-jet. all have been reviewed as good return pumps. best thing to do is compare and find out what will work best for you. also read reviews on each you might just read something that has happened to another person and it might steer you away from that pump. best of luck hope i helped

Im a big fan of danner mag-drives. I tried a lesser quality pump and it died after a month or two, my mag 9.5 has been running constantly since no issue! Pay for quality.

Rio High Flow are good IME. You would want a pump that runs at 400gph at 5 ft head. That would be 10X the volume of the sump. That rate will keep microbubbles from getting to the tank.

There is a big difference between turnover in your DT and turnover through your sump and fuge.

10x per hour in your DT via powerheads.

3x per hour through your sump/fuge via the return pump.

Eheim pumps run silent and get great user reviews.

I recently did some research and the RIO and Mag Drive were both great pumps.
