I am trying to catch a psuedochromis that has started to become a bully. He has been fine for the last few months but he started picking on two o. clowns that I just introduced. I want to remove him but I cant get him out! I've tried the two net technique, which has worked well in the past but as soon as the net goes into the water he hides in the rocks. Does anyone have a better idea? Maybe a trap of some sort? He's making me so frustrated I want to go buy a harpoon gun, lol.

    Thanks for the help.

google "DIY Fish trap" - there are many threads on this forum even. Most involve a plastic bottle with the top cut off, reversed, and glued back on the bottle. [IMG]

The plastic bottle is always a good idea or you could take the slower method which involves leaving the fish net in the tank until he gets used to the sight of it and feels more comfortable around then. Then he will stay out when you have it in the tank and you can net him.

Chase him into the rock...if you can remove it then place it into a bucket of saltwater and wait for it to come out of hiding then remove the rock....worth a try anyway if all else fails...i'll be trying the DIY fish trap method myself if I need to catch a fish again, though you could catch the wrong one w/that method.

I tried the plastic bottle approach. I gave up after catching my yellow tang 8 tmes and tore the tank apart to catch the flame angel.

Well it turns out the psuedo was the only fish to not go into the bottle. At least I know how to catch my other fish including a shrimp:confused:. The final victory happened after I removed all but one of the rocks. When I reached in to get the last rock he swam right into it and I was able to pull him out with the rock. He even jumped out of the rock into the bucket! I am now finally through with the menace. Thanks for all the help!
