Phosphates are a type of nutrient which if allowed to persist in a reef may cause undesirable algae growth.

What size tank do you have?

I bet your rocks constantly falling may have something to do with it?

This. some folks might think its nuts but I had the BEST growth on my mushrooms etc with higher nitrates. Growth really slowed once everything balanced out. Now I'm working on dosing :shifty: Of course....only things I test for!

+ 1 on this. i've posted a few times that i've seen my softies (zoas, gsp, shrooms, rics) seem to be happier in "dirty" water. when my water is clean my sps are growing, my softies slow down and vice versa. it seems counter intuitive in this hobby to want nitrates but if your PO4 is in check you should be fine algae-wise

My Xenia was out of control until i added a skimmer and a phosban reactor. Excess nutrients often encourage the growth of soft corals IME.

But - My advice is, dont move it! Constantly moving the corals around disturbed them too much.
Keep your calcium and DKH steady and then it should shoot off. I notice you said you had T5's. Can i ask how many?
