The amount found in salt mixes (it's in all of them, despite claims otherwise) is insignificant. One pinch of fish food will contain an order of magnitude more phosphate than is in your salt mix. A healthy reef can handle, in-fact needs, small amounts of phosphate. If you have phosphate problems, it is almost always from the reef having more efficient nitrate export than phosphate export....but it's coming from the food.

Exactly. Without phosphate, there would be no life at all, the same as with carbon.

    Yep, or the water. :)

IM is basically not going to assist with replacing their piece of junk tank... so I guess I'm going to try sealing the crack with silicone until I can get something else. Never buying from IM ever again, even though I love the look of their tanks. Glass lasts 12 months and according to them there isn't a problem with it.

Has anyone ever attempted sealing a hairline crack with silicone? Should I be worried that I'll walk into a flooded room sometime next week?

Agree with ^^^. If it's not possible to replace the panel, I'd replace the tank. It's not a question of if the silicone will hold, it's a matter of when will the glass blow out. You could probably still use the tank for a terrarium, or sell it as such.
