HI , today I got my first SW fish -- a orange skunk clown. So after a few hours I figured lets give the fish some food. Using the flake food I bought , put some in the tank -- and whoosh right down the overflow box.

    So the questions is:
Should I have bought a pellet food that sinks?

Or should I lower the rate of my return pump ? ( the setting I currently have seems to make the "flushing" stop )

Or do i need one of those feeding rings?

    Thanks in advance

did you pinch it and stick it under the water line, or just drop it on top.

You may want to look into sinking food. Also, IMO you need to buy frozen food like frozen mysis or cyclopeeze. It is far more nutritious than pellet or flake food. Some people do go without it though. I don't think you need to change anything about the flow unless its insane.

I set my flake food in a measuring cup for about 10 minutes and let it sit in tank water to get the flakes wet so they will sink.

I shut my pump off when feeding only take 1 or 2 min for the food to be gone then I plug it back up (just dont forget)

Ah, I just dropped in on top of the water -- so I just tried again , and let it go below the water line -- bingo!!! TY!!!

And , yes - I bought the flake since I was there ,, and plan on doing some "food research" now - frozen food,, yes I hope so :)
