Cancer research, like all medical research is still completely under funded. Research centres and health agencies all around the world are screaming for medical research funding, highlighting many statistics and growing trends in disease etc, but none of it really hits home with people or the government until you have personally experienced it or know someone who has (which unfortunately is alot of us).

These things are important show people how personal the effects of disease can be and that with medical research, one day, Ronan and his family may not have suffered the way they did.

Which is why in 6 weeks I will have finished my degree and start my PhD into medical research looking at mental illness. I wont earn top dollar, I wont probably even get any recognition, and I will work longer hours than most people ever will. But you do it because you care and you want to make a difference.

If you would like to give medical research the priority and attention it deserves, share things like this and show the people and governments that more is required to help these people.
